Prosperity Gospel Doesn’t Work… Our Senate Agrees

This inquiry is old news but I am interested to see what comes out of this. I only pray for true justice to be had. Either you are tax-exempt or you are not. It is really that simple.

Something in this article that really warms the cockles of my heart was something that was suggested by one of the leaders of the ministries being investigated:

Dollar, who in the past has argued that Jesus was wealthy…

You know those times in the movie where something happens and an observer in the crowd starts to clap slowly in hopes to ramp up the crowd into a roaring applause? I see a suggestion like that and I start to slowly clap but I never ramp up. I slowly clap in hopes of suppressing just the shock and awe that I really want to express. I slowly clap because that is about the best worst thing I have ever heard in my life.

Why do so many people think the abundant life that Jesus promised has anything to do with money? It can, but it’s only one of hundreds….thousands of blessings that we can have.

    God post.

I read an interested article where in a survey done in Americas where the majority of the people surveyed were given two options:

Given all things are consistent (with this or any economy):
Option 1: You earn 50,000 per year and those around you earn 25,000.
Option 2: You earn 100,000 per year and those around you earn 250,000.

Americans rather have more than their neighbors then to have more money.

I am not going to go off on a tangent about we shouldn’t be rich or poor. It is all about being good stewards of what you have. Job was rich. Abraham was rich. The owner of the tomb where Jesus was (temporarily) laid to rest, Joseph of Arimathea, was rich. Nothing wrong with being rich. But if you serve God, He will use you to bless those who need it. It is up to you whether you want to hear His voice.

The way I look at it, I just ask Him to provide what I need today. If He gives me more then I assume He needs me to do something with it. I just wait on Him.

    Great answer.

I think the thought or Christian virtue that goes with that sentiment is called being content with what we’ve been provided.

Grace and peace be with you.
