Slow Clap: Oprah’s New Jesus
Oprah’s New Jesus (Ben Arment)
Excerpt:
Oprah has skyrocketed the career of another author on her book club. But this endorsement is a bit heart-wrenching. She’s taking her fans through a year-long “Course in Miracles” by Marianne Williamson. Each day, her book club site features a different lesson on this essentially new religion. Here are some quotes from this book:
- “There is no sin.”
- “A slain Christ has no meaning.”
- “The journey to the cross should be the last ‘ useless journey.”
- “Do not make the pathetic error of ‘clinging to the old rugged cross.”
- “The name of Jesus Christ as such is but a symbol… It is a symbol that is safely used as a replacement for the many names of all the gods to which you pray.”
- “The recognition of God is the recognition of yourself.”
- “The Atonement is the final lesson he [man] need learn, for it teaches him that, never having sinned, he has no need of salvation.”
I have but one thing to say:
Romans 3:21-26 (NKJV) But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
I know of Williamson. She makes my skin crawl.
This isn’t good Joe. Not good at all. Look at ALL the people Oprah influences - very scary!
Well that sucks. Thanks, Oprah.
O my. Oprah is worse than a blatant Satan worshiper because she appears to be so good.
I am going to be honest.
I read about this late last week in an email from my grandmother’s friend to my grandmother and was still doing research on it when Ben posted on it.
Between my blog here, facebook and myspace, I wanted to get this out to as many people as I can.
But with something this damning, always do your due diligence.
oh boy.
Every single time I have to scan this post, my heart pauses on:
“There is no sin”
and…
“A slain Christ has no meaning”
It is like somebody took the wind out of my sails.
I was watching a show the other day. Some debate show where they show side my side reporters/journalists type deal. One of the people present was a Christian. He said that Oprah was one of the most dangerous people in the world. Not like suicide bomber type deal but dangerous because of all of the women who faithfully follow her like she is some sort of God. Can anyone say “Idol Worship”?? She is leading so many people astray with this new Miracle, No Jesus, crap…..and yet she claimed at one point to be a Christian. Its just all very sad and aggrivating.
Wow Joe, nice site! Came over from Tam’s, and I heard this too..Oprah is going to answer to God, and this is not good at all!! i am going to spread the word as well! She influences so many people..
Hey I like how you’ve pulled out these specific quotes. If you’re not listening with a mental filter, these small sentences will slip right past you.
I’m going to link up to your post here with the quotes on my blog, Parents, Geeks, & God.

Oprah is certainly not THE anti-christ, however; she is an anti-christ of which their will be many.
He is risen!

We see something like this and it doesn’t take discernment to reject it like a shot blocked at half-court.
Not only we count on God to show us the way when it comes to false teachings that are obvious but to the ones not so obvious.
Much like the rest of the world, we are going to see more and more false teaching and they are only going to get bigger. Pray to God to give us opportunities to minister and speak for us when we get that chance.
Thanks for your post, I listened to Oprah’s first webinar with Tolle’s new book, A New Earth, and posted on how Oprah has transcended from talk show host to uber-evangelist.

I have been watching with some alarm the eronous mesaages that Oprah has been sending out there, and I wonder when we the church will turn off the tv and begin to pray. I have started, we as the Body of Christ need to rise up and fight for are his army and until we stop defending and start doing some offensive work we will not be a force to be reckon with. I donot watch Oprah anymore I find her very offensive.
I have said this time and time again that the gap between the lost and the found is widening.
We Christians have to make every single effort to reach across that gap and get as many saved as we can.
It is only going to get harder and harder.
