One Mic by Nas
Several months ago, I had a friend who passed away.
I just found out last night that his widow took her own life.
I am not sure if they believed God is their Savior and Lord.
Up until recently, I thought it was enough for me to boldly walk my faith, set myself apart and others will catch on.
I now have proof in hand that it is not enough.
Their lives have now flipped my head inside out.
For some reason, I am reminded of one song, One Mic by Nas.
In that song, I will constantly ask..
One God to show me how to do things His Son did
That I won’t quit praying…
One prayer - tell God forgive for one sin
The desire of my heart is that…
All I need is one life, one try, one breath I’m one man
what I stand for speaks for itself, they don’t understand
Now is the time to make my life worth something.

That’s really, really tough. I’m sorry.
And it’s convicting for me as well.

I pray for the family and friends of this tragedy.
I hope you haven’t taken any responsibility on your own shoulders Joe. I believe your life is worth something right now.

I have learned just one thing in life is that I cannot make decisions based on what I have done or did not do in the past. I am not sustained or pushed forward by guilt or shame of who I was but joyfully strengthened only by the love of Jesus Christ our Lord.
I cannot shoulder the past. I can only shoulder the now and the future if God gives me this burden to rest upon my shoulders. If it given by Him, then it will be easy and light. If not, then it will be taxing and difficult.

Oh man I am so sorry to hear that. Yes your last comment was very well said.
I just posted today about my neighbor who died this week. I’ve known her for 10 years, we’ve had intermittent spiritual conversation. When she decided to stop chemotherapy, I was unsure whether to press her. I wasn’t that far on the inside with her. Or I should say she never let me go there with her. I prayed for direction and uncharacteristically let God dictate. I asked a few questions of her grown kids about whether she would like a pastor to talk to. She had already been meeting with one. I got to talk to her pastor today and he explained that through the course of their meetings, she did eventually accept Christ. God had it completely under control.

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Joni: Above all miracles, all prophecies, all everything that God can do and will do, I will always stand and cheer when I see people giving their lives to Lord.
Nothing moves me more and the story of your neighbor is not the exception.
Thank you.
