Yet Another Site Redesign

Wordpress Logo - ShinyFrom the same guy who created the theme for my anti-myspace myspace page comes this simple and sleek theme for Wordpress Blogs.

While I am not totally satisfied with it, I believe I am on the right course into creating something that I am going to like for a very long time.

One of the very reasons for my switch from Typepad to Wordpress was themes. While I can certainly write a theme from scratch, I rather not. It is a far better use of my time to take an existing theme and customize it to my liking.

Woot

Finally got all of my ministry and ministry-like bookmarks in order:

Quick Hits: Christmas Edition

Legos Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy (Xbox)I truly hope you and yours are having a very Merry Christmas.

  • Playing: The same Miranda who previously offered a book recommendation recommended the Lego Star Wars game for my son since my son plays it every chance he gets when goes to the older kids class. He popped the game into the console and played with no needed instructions. What was really cool is that two people can play at the same time. This is the first console game I have bought that allowed for multiplayer. It is a bonus since I get to play it with my son!
  • Singing: I am in the final days in physically and mentally preparing for this upcoming fast at the beginning of next year. Since I was originally led to do 30 days, I am do some reading on how to do it properly. I went over in my head what to pray for and what to study over those 30 days. I suddenly then realized it is not asking God for this, that or the third. It was simply to worship and praise His name. Anything less that does not give God all the glory is not even worth my time or the effort. I work up the morning and drove 30 minutes on the nearly deserted highways of Dallas and Fort Worth. I began to sing “Bring The Rain” by MercyMe and so much joy filled my soul that I was smiling, laughing and crying while singing. I have never experienced anything like that.
  • Thinking: That might have been a private moment but, meh. I have never been a private person so why start now?

Psalm 97:9 (KJV) For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.

Quick Hits: Near-Christmas Edition

  • I never considered remarrying but this post has soften my heart just a little. Thankfully, my way is by God and God alone therefore I never have to worry about that or anything else in this life.
  • Accompanying Me in Writing This Post: Thelonious Monk’s “Sweet and Lovely” followed by Dream Theater’s “Lie”.
  • Buying: The movie, Once (Amazon.com), on DVD. Best Romantic Movie Ever.
  • Watching: Lecture series by Chuck Missler entitled “Learn The Bible In 24 Hours.” Any Bible lesson that breaks into Spherical Trigonometry, Planck units for both length and time and Law of Entropy wins in my book.
  • Listening: After listening to the series on Sex (link) by Matt Chandler (Lead Pastor of The Village Church, Lewisville, TX), I rolled right into the Family Traits series (link). Be warned: between the 2nd and 3rd sermon in that series, you have to go read the books of John and Romans. Since I listen to my podcasts mostly in the car, I flipped over my iPod to my copy of The Listener’s mp3 Bible (NIV) as Narrated by Max McLean (Amazon.com) and never missed a beat.
  • Thinking: Matt’s series on “Sex” made me realize I have got to desperately have to learn Hebrew.
  • Reading: My friend, Miranda, insisted on me reading this book called “Redeeming Love” by Francine Rivers (Amazon.com). I just finished the Prologue. If you ever wanted to glimpse into my childhood, go to your local bookstore or borrow this from a friend and read the Prologue really quick. I don’t know how the author knew what feelings that little girl would have but I am here to tell you that they are spot dead on accurate.

All of that to tell you this:

John5:39-40 (NKJV) You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

Tagged?!

Out of the clear blue, I get tagged by two great ladies (Hope and Melissa) who happened to be a part of small bunch that got me into blogging and been there since the first time I fired up my website.

Apparently, I am suppose to give seven random facts about myself and then tag them back plus seven more.

Cutting loose and having fun? I am game.

  1. (Stealing one from Melissa’s original tagging post) I, too, lack the skills to sing and clap at the same time. Yet, I can play bass guitar and sing. I can keep a beat and sing. I just can’t clap and sing.
  2. I am a geek. Through and through. I am more at home with Linux Command Line Interface than Windows or Mac’s Graphical User Interface. Yet, I am trying to retire from doing computers altogether.
  3. I love to cook. I have a fridge full of food, full spice cabinets and full pantry to prove it.
  4. I have 10015 songs in my iTunes library. (Which roughly translates to nearly 30 days before I will hear a song repeated.)
  5. Speaking of music, I use Europe’s “The Final Countdown”, The Roots’ “Act Too (The Love Of My Life)”, John Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme”, Hillsong United’s “Solution”, The Eagles’ “Take It Easy” and Dire Staits’ “Money For Nothing” for ringtones in order to have an instant idea of who is calling me. (Told ya I was a geek.)
  6. I wanted to be a comic book artist when I was younger.
  7. It has been 4 weeks since I have stepped out of the house in a t-shirt after wearing t-shirts for most of my adult life.

Taggings going out to…

  1. Lori
  2. Anne
  3. Heidi
  4. Kristi
  5. Crystal
  6. Brad
  7. Joshua
